Why the Border Collie Trust GB?

Vanessa and I have owned Border Collies for over 25 years, with our first one coming from a rescue. This is why Horsing Around has been supporting the Border Collie Trust GB since 2014, and through the generosity of our customers and friends we have managed to raise £26,950 so far.

Their work

The Border Collie Trust GB rescues and rehomes Border Collies and collie crosses throughout the UK. Sadly they have on average between 25 and 30 dogs at their centre at Rugeley in Staffordshire, and unfortunately there is always a waiting list for dogs needing their help.

Dogs can come from other rescues who may be finding it difficult to home a collie in their area, to those rescues who take in strays and may have anything from one to ten collies needing help quickly. Plus individual owners can contact them who for a vast array of reasons can no longer care for their collie.

Self-funded registered charity

The Border Collie Trust GB is a self-funded registered charity which means they have to raise every penny themselves through donations, events or sponsorship. As the cost of living continues to rise, supporting the Border Collie Trust is more important than ever now in helping them transform the lives of the collies in their care.

Any money donated helps pay for food, shelter and vital medical bills allowing us to focus on helping our collies get a new start in life. For example:

  • £5 provides flea and worm treatment for one dog.
  • £10 will pay for pain medication and a check up for a collie undergoing a hip dysplasia operation.
  • £20 will pay for a collie to be vaccinated.
  • £50 will make an amazing difference to a collie's life providing valuable financial support towards neutering, or even life saving veterinary care.
